The Focus V Carta Sport is a fully temperature-controlled e-rig.It delivers strong performance in a small package.It suits both new and experienced dabbers.It aims to be simple and reliable, at a fair price.The ergonomics are well designed, so it feels comfortable to use.It is well planned, even down to the air path.You can remove or swap the air path for easy cleaning.

This device uses a 3D heated ceramic atomiser.The heating elements sit in the walls and the base.This is similar to the Core XL.This design is efficient and reduces wasted concentrate.You can adjust temperature presets using the app.

You can fine-tune settings, or use the simple presets.The device also offers one-button operation.It uses a joystick-style carb cap.Once heated, move the joystick in small circles.This stirs the concentrate for smooth, even vapour.

The Focus V app lets you customise temperature settings.It also lets you customise the lights.You can log your sessions in the app.You can also see the exact battery percentage.This helps you know if it needs charging before you go out.

You can also check the battery using the device button.However, this is only a rough guide using lights.It does not show a number.

The CARTA Sport is efficient and works well with small dabs.However, some people prefer to load a little more.If so, consider the Intelli-Core Max atomiser.It is deeper and holds more, without flooding.It is larger and gives more room for the carb cap.This reduces the risk of the cap tip touching your dab.

We prefer the Max atomiser for better efficiency.Its taller walls mean less reclaim.It still works well with small dabs too.It is fairly expensive, so it will not suit everyone.Still, we think it is worth it.

Things of note which are worth knowing

• Load your dab when the heater is cold. Then let it heat up with the dab inside. Loading into a hot heater can damage it. This is common with ceramic heaters.
• If you can, use a heated dab tool like the Mini HDT. It lets you drop the dab in cleanly. This avoids scraping off a metal tool. Scraping is messy and can damage the heater.
• The carb cap tip is a bit longer than it needs to be. With larger dabs, some may stick to the tip. If you want larger dabs, try the Intelli-Core Max Atomizer. It is 30% larger. This is not a deal breaker, but worth knowing. The Carta Sport works best with small dabs. If this happens, try a smaller dab first. It may still hit the spot and keep the cap cleaner.
• The CARTA App works, but can feel unstable at times. It may freeze and need a restart. It helps you set the right temperatures. The preset temperatures are well chosen. Many people will not need to change them.
• The CARTA Sport does not work with the wireless charging base. The Carta 2 supports this, but the Sport does not. This keeps the Sport cheaper to make. You can charge it by USB-C instead. We think the price gap is worth this small trade-off.
• The atomiser and bubbler are angled slightly for comfort. Please keep the atomiser mostly upright while vaping. If not, your dab can flood into the airflow.
• A herb chamber is sold separately for the CARTA Sport. We were not very impressed during testing. We only stock products we find impressive. For that reason, we will not stock it.
• It does the trick but we’d rather stick with a separate device for vaping herb.
• The bubbler only needs to be filled just above the slits on the glass percolator inside, 2cm above them is fine.
• Take the bubbler off the base before filling it and wipe any excess of the outside before installing it on the base, please. Electrics + water = bad.
• If you’re transporting it, empty the bubbler first!

If you’re unsure if it’s a warranty issue please first pop us an email so we can try to help assess and troubleshoot. If there is a warranty issue, log it with Focus, after which we can set up a return for the unit to be sent back to us, we will return it to their distributor and have replacement parts/units issued.

The Carta Sport Base has a 1 year warranty and the atomizers have a 6 month warranty – these are warranties against manufacture defects, not user damage! Glass is not covered by a warranty unless it arrives with you already broken!
